TFM: A key partner for the development of Fungurume

The Fungurume region, located in the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo, was recently the scene of a commendable initiative by Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM). In accordance with its specifications established with the community in 2021, the company launched a series of projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the region’s inhabitants.

During a solemn ceremony, 120,000 second-generation mosquito nets were distributed to Fungurume residents. These insecticide-treated mosquito nets are a crucial tool in the fight against malaria, an endemic disease in the region. At the same time, TFM also announced the start of asphalting work on 2.3 km of the town’s roads, an initiative that will promote mobility and local economic development.

The presence of many political and administrative figures at this event testifies to the importance of these projects for the community. The National Malaria Control Programme Director, local authorities and provincial MPs have all expressed their support for these initiatives that aim to improve the quality of life of the people of Fungurume.

In addition to mosquito nets and asphalting, TFM has also carried out other infrastructure and development projects. The Nguba market, agricultural tractor sheds, school kits and domestic water wells are all initiatives that contribute to strengthening the local economy and improving the living conditions of the people.

These projects are not simply physical constructions, but investments in the future and well-being of the community. By providing local traders with functional spaces, supporting agriculture and ensuring access to clean water, TFM is making a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the region.

Through these actions, TFM demonstrates its commitment to the community and its desire to create a positive impact in the long term. By strengthening infrastructure, promoting health and education, the company is laying the foundations for a more prosperous and equitable society for all people in Fungurume.
