Reparation and solidarity: The exemplary gesture of President Félix Tshisekedi towards the Catholic church of Kisangani

President Felix Tshisekedi’s gesture of presenting a cheque for $2.5 million to the war-affected Catholic Church in Kisangani is an example of compassion and support for victims of past conflicts. It demonstrates the importance of repairing the damage caused by illicit activities and the need to rebuild affected communities.

The presentation of this cheque is a strong symbolic act, as it demonstrates the government’s recognition of the suffering endured by the Catholic Church and those affected by the war. These funds will contribute to the reconstruction of schools, parishes and communities that were damaged during the dark days of the conflict.

The Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Kisangani, Bishop Leonard Ndjadi Ndjate, expressed his appreciation and thanks to the Uganda Reparations Fund for Victims of Illicit Activities, the Minister of Justice, and the President of the Republic. This first tranche of $2.5 million marks the beginning of a process aimed at repairing the harm done and providing relief to the communities that have suffered.

The opening of a RAW BANK counter at the FRIVAO facility will facilitate the compensation process for certified victims, allowing them to quickly receive the funds to which they are entitled. This gesture is a step forward towards healing and reconciliation for communities affected by the conflict.

It is essential that FRIVAO’s operations continue so that all victims of Uganda’s illicit activities can be compensated and justice can be served. President Felix Tshisekedi demonstrated his commitment to the cause by visiting the FRIVAO facility and presenting this cheque to the Catholic Church in Kisangani.

In conclusion, this gesture of solidarity and support for victims of past conflicts demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to rebuilding and repairing the damage caused by illicit activities. Continued support for reparation and reconstruction efforts is essential to ensure a better future for war-affected communities.
