Fatshimetrie, October 22, 2024 – **Digital Education: A Key Lever for the Future of Youth in the DRC**

During the recent event in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, discussions highlighted the importance of combining traditional education with digital training to best prepare young people for a constantly changing world. The roadmap presented at this forum highlights the urgency of integrating digital skills into school curricula, while emphasizing the need to continuously train teachers so that they can transmit this knowledge effectively.

Roderick-Victor Nyangi, Deputy Director General of the Special Fund for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Youth Employment (FSPEEJ), stressed that Congolese youth represent a significant portion of the population and that their successful integration into the digital sector can help reduce the unemployment rate. Indeed, the creativity and innovation of young people are major assets for creating new job opportunities in the digital field.

The roadmap presented at the forum is divided into five areas, including strengthening the employability of young people in the digital sector, supporting digital literacy, establishing a targeted employment benchmark in the digital sector, and monitoring and evaluating progress made. These objectives aim to offer young people opportunities for continuing education and professional retraining in key sectors such as agriculture, health, and energy.

It is essential that children are introduced to digital tools from an early age, in order to prepare them for a future where digital transformation is unavoidable. As journalists, we have a duty to raise awareness of the crucial importance of this integration, because it is the responsibility of all social actors to collectively commit to ensuring young people’s access to job opportunities in the digital sector.

In conclusion, the ongoing digital transition in the DRC offers new economic and professional prospects for Congolese youth. It is up to everyone to contribute to the implementation of this roadmap for a promising and inclusive future for all. Digital education is a powerful tool to shape a prosperous and sustainable future for Congolese youth, and it is time to take action.
