The agricultural fair “Rentrons au champs” which will be held on Saturday, October 26 at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security promises to be a major event in the agricultural sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Organized by the cooperative “Microdev” and the market gardeners’ market “Assiette du Peuple”, this initiative aims to encourage the development and promotion of sustainable agriculture in the country.
The president of Microdev, Mrs. Bijou Tshiunza, underlines the importance of this event which will bring together key players in the agricultural sector, from producers to distributors, including institutions and the general public. The objective is to highlight the latest innovations and challenges of sustainable agriculture, in order to raise awareness and mobilize the entire Congolese society around this crucial theme.
Microdev, with its expertise and commitment to development, focuses on supporting women operating in the agri-food sector within Assiette du Peuple. By providing technical and financial support, the cooperative aims to strengthen the capacities of women entrepreneurs and improve the quality of their products, thereby helping to boost the sector and ensure food security in the country.
Created in 2019 by Ms. Bijou Tshiunza, Microdev has established itself as a key player in supporting and financing local entrepreneurship in the DRC, with a particular focus on women’s entrepreneurship. Through financing services such as individual and solidarity loans, the cooperative supports traders and women engaged in income-generating activities, thereby helping to strengthen the local economy and promote the empowerment of women in the country.
