Fatshimetrie, October 21, 2024 – The territory of Muanda, located in Kongo Central in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was the scene of a poignant demonstration this Monday. Indeed, people living with disabilities expressed their solidarity with their fellow citizens in the East of the country, victims of the horrors of wars of aggression, through a support march.
Under the leadership of Albert Yinda, territorial president of people living with disabilities and other vulnerable people, the community spoke out to denounce the acts of violence perpetrated in the East and to call for the mobilization of the entire population of Muanda against the aggression carried out by the M23, supported by Rwanda.
This symbolic march places people living with disabilities at the heart of civic engagement and national solidarity. By taking part in this initiative, these individuals demonstrate that they can no longer be considered passive members of society, but rather as full-fledged actors, bearers of unsuspected values and strengths.
Albert Yinda emphasizes that people living with disabilities have long suffered from stigmatization and prejudice, but that it is time to change this misperception. Indeed, their active participation in this support march demonstrates that they not only have rights, but also skills and potential to assert within Congolese society.
This exemplary mobilization demonstrates a remarkable synergy between the different components of Congolese society, ready to unite to defend peace and justice. People living with disabilities are now positioning themselves as legitimate and committed interlocutors, ready to work hand in hand with their fellow citizens to put an end to the conflicts that are tearing the country apart.
In conclusion, this solidarity march in Muanda reflects a new social dynamic, where people living with disabilities assert themselves as full-fledged, committed and united citizens. Their message of unity and compassion resonates as a call to action, inviting everyone to mobilize to build together a future of peace and fraternity.
