Embezzlement scandal: High authorities under investigation

“FATSHIMETRY: State officials under investigation for embezzlement of public funds”

The Congolese political scene is shaken by a case of embezzlement of public funds, involving influential figures from the political and economic world. In a context where the fight against corruption is an absolute priority, attention is now turning to two former ministers and a company CEO, accused of financial embezzlement.

The scandal broke when the Inspector General of Finance and Head of Department, Jules Alingete, sent a letter to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) on October 16. In this letter, he indicates that the CEO of the Agimex SARL group, Michel Kabeya, the Honorary Minister of Vocational Training, Antoinette Kipulu, as well as the former Minister of ESU and Land Affairs, Daniel Madimba, are suspected of having embezzled funds intended for the construction of vocational training centers in several provinces of the country.

According to the information gathered, the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) is currently conducting an investigation into the disappearance of funds allocated by the government. Suspicions fall in particular on the former Minister of Vocational Training who is accused of having embezzled five million dollars for personal purposes, including more than one million received illegally.

Faced with these disturbing revelations, Jules Alingete has requested that the persons involved be banned from leaving the country, in order to facilitate the ongoing investigations. The DGM has already confiscated the passports of the accused, forcing them to remain available for any summons from the competent authorities.

This case of embezzlement of public funds raises crucial questions about transparency in the management of state funds and highlights the risks associated with poor governance. At a time when the population is demanding greater responsibility and integrity from its leaders, it is essential to shed light on these reprehensible practices and ensure that the culprits are held accountable.

In conclusion, the embezzlement case involving influential figures in government and the private sector highlights the crucial importance of the fight against corruption and the need to strengthen control and accountability mechanisms. Only rigorous and transparent management of public finances will restore citizens’ trust in institutions and ensure a better future for all.”
