Afridex: An Ambition to Become a Major Arms Industry in Africa

Fatshimetrie, October 21, 2024 – During the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of Defense to Likasi, Haut-Katanga province in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the CEO of Afridex expressed his ambition to make this company a major arms industry in Africa. Grand Admiral Baudouin Liwanga highlighted Afridex’s potential to support national needs and export its know-how in the production of civil and military explosives.

Afridex, already active in the manufacture of explosives, is expanding its capabilities by diversifying into the production of small and large caliber weapons, as well as hunting weapons. Two new factories under construction will complete Afridex’s industrial arsenal, providing for the production of different types of weapons to meet growing demand and support defense industries in Africa.

The collaboration between Afridex and a Sino-Congolese company specializing in civil explosives demonstrates the commitment of the private and public sectors to work together to strengthen national security and industry. The Deputy Prime Minister of Defense welcomed this synergy, stressing the importance of meeting the country’s security needs while promoting economic development.

In addition to his visit to Afridex, the Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the Buluo military camp, the military engineering school and the Mura training center in Likasi. These visits underline the government’s commitment to strengthening military capabilities and developing defense infrastructure in the region, with the aim of ensuring the country’s security and stability.

The vision of making Afridex a major arms industry in Africa raises promising prospects for the defense sector in the region.
