Kindu, October 21, 2024 – The provincial station Fatshimetrie, based in Kindu, in the province of Maniema in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is about to experience an energy revolution. Indeed, the Jérôme Sekana Pene Papa Foundation has decided to donate a 50 KVA mini hybrid photovoltaic power plant to the station, in order to remedy the malfunction caused by frequent power cuts by SNEL.
The lack of electricity has led to a significant drop in Fatshimetrie’s emissions, disrupting the broadcasting of both provincial and national government activities. This situation has, unfortunately, deprived the population of access to reliable and regular information, as the national channel is supposed to play a crucial role in transmitting key events in the public sphere.
In an effort to address this shortcoming, the Jérôme Sekana Pene Papa Foundation will install a mini hybrid photovoltaic power plant in Fatshimetrie in the coming days. With this new facility, the station will now be able to broadcast continuously, 24 hours a day, thus offering the population constant access to national and provincial news.
“This initiative will allow the population to be informed in real time via national and provincial television, thus respecting the ethical and deontological standards of journalism in the Democratic Republic of Congo,” said Sekana Pene Papa, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
The mini photovoltaic power plant will consist of 132 450-watt solar panels, new-generation lithium batteries and high-capacity regulators, thus ensuring continuous power supply to the station’s equipment. This project, which is estimated to last two months, aims to guarantee uninterrupted broadcasting of information on Fatshimetrie.
This initiative thus marks a major turning point in the information broadcasting sector in the Maniema region, offering the population permanent access to quality media content. By promoting transparency and communication, this mini photovoltaic power plant will help strengthen the crucial role of the media in democracy and the development of the region.
In conclusion, the installation of the hybrid mini photovoltaic power plant in Fatshimetrie promises to be a significant step forward for access to information in the province of Maniema, demonstrating the commitment of the Jérôme Sekana Pene Papa Foundation to the dissemination of reliable and continuous information among the Congolese population.
In short, this initiative highlights the importance of access to quality information for the development and consolidation of democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
