Inclusive entrepreneurship: a lever for the autonomy of people with disabilities

Promoting entrepreneurship among people living with disabilities is a crucial issue that needs to be addressed. Indeed, these individuals often find themselves faced with a lack of formal economic opportunities, a limited level of education, and increased socio-economic challenges. This is why it is imperative to put in place measures to encourage and support entrepreneurship within this community.

Stéphanie Bolia, President of the Regroupement des élites vivant avec handicap au Congo, rightly emphasizes that people with disabilities need both psychological and entrepreneurial support. Indeed, it is essential to raise awareness and train these individuals so that they can effectively manage the funds allocated to them for an entrepreneurial project. The objective is to help them become independent and actively participate in the economic development of their country.

The eradication of poverty in all its forms is a major objective included in the Sustainable Development Goals. It is therefore essential to put in place concrete policies and actions aimed at combating poverty and promoting the social inclusion of persons with disabilities. These individuals must have equal opportunities in all sectors of society, and it is the duty of the competent authorities to ensure that their rights are respected and their needs taken into account.

To achieve this, it is necessary to set up awareness-raising, training and support programmes adapted to the specific needs of persons with disabilities. This involves quality education, the promotion of entrepreneurial culture, and the establishment of financial and psychological support mechanisms. The objective is to create an environment conducive to the development and autonomy of these individuals, so that they can fully contribute to the sustainable development of society.

On this International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, it is crucial to reaffirm our commitment to a just, peaceful and inclusive society. Putting an end to social and institutional abuse, acting together to guarantee equal opportunities and dignity for all individuals, these are the challenges we must face collectively. By supporting the entrepreneurship of people with disabilities, we contribute to building a fairer and more united world for all.
