Fatshimetrie, October 14, 2024 – This beginning of the week marks the start of the conference on mines, energy and infrastructure in the province of Maniema, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Under the aegis of the minister responsible for this sector, these three-day meetings aim to stimulate the development of the region, by highlighting its mining potential and identifying the actions necessary for its advancement.
The development vision of the province of Maniema is at the heart of these discussions, with particular emphasis on the valorization of its mineral resources. Governor Moise Musa Kabankubi stressed the importance of rehabilitating road, rail and river infrastructure to ensure the opening up of the province, as well as the need to provide reliable electricity to support local economic growth and improve the living conditions of the inhabitants.
Mining sector stakeholders, including Sakima and Namoya Mining, met to discuss the challenges they face and seek joint solutions. The opening of the proceedings was marked by the presence of the 2nd Vice-President of the Senate, Mr. Baende, representing the President of the Upper House and testifying to the importance of these discussions for the entire country.
To ensure the success of this ambitious project, Governor Musa Kabankubi Moïse is considering the creation of a structure dedicated to raising awareness and mobilizing the resources of Maniema citizens to contribute to improving the living conditions of the local population.
