The saga of the Super Eagles in Libya has come to an end after more than 14 hours of trials and misadventures. Last Sunday, the players and members of the team were finally able to put an end to their ordeal and head back to Nigeria.

This news was officially confirmed by the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who shared the good news on her social media. “The Super Eagles team is now embarking. May the journey be auspicious to them all,” she wrote.

One of the players, Bruno Onyemaechi, also expressed his relief and joy at finally leaving Libya. “Me and Libya, it’s over. I’ve washed my hands of all that. Nothing concerns me anymore. Thank God, I’m going home,” he shared.

The Super Eagles’ journey was fraught with challenges, with the Libyan authorities initially refusing to allow refuelling for their return flight to Nigeria. A situation that put the team in a delicate situation, forcing them to exercise patience and solidarity.
