New training and entrepreneurship initiative for young Congolese in Kinshasa

Fatshimetrie, October 13, 2024 – The Belgian Federal Government Development Agency (Enabel) is fully committed to training more than 500 young Congolese people aged 18 to 35 in Kinshasa. These young people will have the opportunity to train in various professions, ranging from plumbers to web technicians, welders and solar photovoltaic technicians.

David Kibila, Deputy Director of the National Institute for Vocational Preparation (INPP), stressed the importance of this project initiated by Enabel. He specified that the young people selected will come from various organizations such as associations, NGOs, orphanages, and provincial youth councils in Kisangani. This initiative aims to meet a crying need for employment, particularly in the province of Tshopo where more than 86% of young people are looking for a professional activity.

The objective of this training goes beyond the simple acquisition of technical skills. Indeed, the young beneficiaries will also be supported in the creation of their own businesses. The INPP incubator will support these entrepreneurial projects, thus allowing young people to put into practice the knowledge acquired during their training.

Pierrot Loango, provincial director of the INPP, advocated for the reduction of taxes for young entrepreneurs from these training courses. This measure would facilitate the creation and development of businesses, thus contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.

Didier Lomoyo Iteku, vice-governor of the province, stressed the importance of the commitment of young people in achieving the objectives set. He encouraged the participants to show determination and will to succeed in their entrepreneurial projects.

This initiative demonstrates Enabel’s commitment to the socio-economic development of the province of Tshopo. By investing in training young people and supporting them in creating businesses, the agency seeks to offer future prospects to future generations, while contributing to the emergence of a dynamic and inclusive economy.

This project, lasting three years and costing a total of 160,000 euros, is a concrete response to the needs of young Congolese people in terms of employment and entrepreneurship. It embodies the commitment of Enabel and its partners to sustainable and equitable development, placing young people at the heart of the country’s socio-economic challenges.

Fatshimetrie remains mobilized to accompany and support these initiatives that bring hope to young Congolese people, because the future of the nation undoubtedly depends on the success and development of its youth.
