As part of the recent conference on water management held in Cairo, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, Egypt’s total rejection of any unilateral act that violates international law in water resources management.
During the seventh edition of Cairo Water Week, Abdelatty stressed that Egypt has made significant efforts in recent years to promote the international water agenda and has contributed to the launch of many initiatives to this effect, including the Water Adaptation and Resilience (AWARe) initiative.
Under the theme “Water and Climate: Building Resilient Communities”, this event is an important platform that uses science to find solutions to water-related problems.
Abdelatty stressed that there is no alternative to improving regional and international cooperation in water management to achieve development for all, especially since most water resources come from transboundary rivers.
Egypt has supported and continues to support the development and prosperity of the Nile Basin countries, he said, stressing that Egypt supports any project as long as it is satisfactory to all parties.
He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to the principles of international law, calling on the brothers of the Nile Basin countries to establish a mechanism to realize the aspirations of the peoples of this great river.
This conference highlights the crucial importance of international cooperation in water resources management, stressing the need to work together to ensure a sustainable future for all people in the region.
