“Fatshimetric” Diplomacy: The New Face of the Democratic Republic of Congo on the International Scene

Congolese diplomacy is taking a new turn on the international scene, orchestrated by President Félix Tshisekedi. The tumultuous era of political reversals and internal struggles seems to be fading in favor of a clearer and more ambitious vision for the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The recent initiatives of the Congolese Head of State at the Paris summit resonated as a strong signal, marking a break with past practices. The condemnation of Rwanda’s presence on Congolese territory and the reaffirmation of respect for the borders inherited from colonization marked a decisive turning point in Congolese diplomacy.

“Fatshimetric” diplomacy is now emerging as a concerted strategy to take advantage of international alliances while preserving national interests. The reconstruction of the Congolese army and the consolidation of regional ties are the pillars of this new approach.

The crucial issue of non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2025-2027 represents a major challenge for the DRC. The real chances of the Democratic Republic of Congo to obtain this seat illustrate the renewed confidence of the international community in the country and its diplomacy under the presidency of Félix Tshisekedi.

The upcoming summit in Luanda promises to be a key step in establishing this new diplomatic posture. The requirement for a detailed plan of Rwandan troops present in the DRC and accountability for the actions taken will mark a significant step forward in resolving regional conflicts and promoting peace.

The DR Congo is thus resuming its rightful place on the international scene, as a key player in resolving regional crises and defending its sovereign interests. “Fatshimetric” diplomacy is asserting itself as a vector of stability and prosperity for a country seeking recognition and respect on the world stage.
