**Reforming Nigeria’s Economy: A Challenge for Tinubu’s Government**
Nigeria’s economic management has been a major challenge in recent years, with significant consequences for the population. Former rebel leader and Mayor of Urhobo Region, Eshanekpe Israel, also known as Akpodoro, has been critical of the previous administration of General Muhammadu Buhari, accusing it of leaving behind economic problems that the country and Nigerians are currently facing.
According to Akpodoro, former ministers who are calling for mass protests against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are committing a grave error by incriminating themselves and insulting the collective conscience of the Nigerian people. He claims that these former ministers were members of the cabinet and inner circle of the Buhari government, responsible for “holding Nigerians hostage and bequeathing the worst economy in the world to the current Tinubu administration.”
The leader of the Mayors Family Crown Association challenged former ministers who have been calling for protests to account for their stewardship for over eight years, saying they have no moral legitimacy to call for protests against Nigerian youths because the regime they served in has pushed Nigeria deeper into the path of regression.
Akpodoro, who is also the founder of the Urhobo Youth Forum for Change, noted that it is the economic legacy left by the previous administration that President Tinubu is striving to redress, and that patriotic Nigerians are eternally grateful to him for the strides he has made since he took over the reins of power from the limping and visionless administration that brought poverty and desolation to Nigerians.
He levelled harsh criticism at the former Minister of Transportation, drawing the attention of security agencies to the activities of these unpatriotic elements who have squandered the country’s resources. Akpodoro urged Nigerian youths not to heed the unpatriotic calls for action by angry fallen politicians.
Ultimately, the insight and conviction of the new Tinubu-led administration in its mission to reform the Nigerian economy deserves to be commended. These efforts to restore hope to Nigerians and rebuild a prosperous future for the country reflect political will and commitment to the welfare of the people. The real heroes are those who act for the common good, and it is on this solid foundation that Nigeria can recover and prosper.
