In Fatshimetrie area, a tragic road accident occurred on the main road linking two important towns, leaving seven people dead. The Sector Commander, Kabir Nadabo, confirmed the devastating incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.
According to reports, the accident occurred at Hayin Gada, along the Saminaka-Kaduna road, on Saturday morning, at about 10:00 am. A combined team of FRSC, Pambegua Unit Command and some local vigilante groups rushed to the scene of the accident and made a most tragic discovery that all seven passengers had lost their lives.
The accident involved a Peugeot J5, registration number TRN 861XL 08 AA, carrying five people which collided with an unregistered Bajaj Boxer, killing the driver and a passenger.
Initial investigations revealed that the accident was caused by dangerous overtaking and excessive speed. It was also noted that the driver of the J5, named Abdul Shakur Adam, lost control of his vehicle, violently hitting the Bajaj and causing the instant death of the seven passengers.
The bodies of the victims were taken to the Pambegua General Hospital where they were confirmed dead. Commander Nadabo expressed his deepest sympathy to the families of the deceased and stressed that the Pambegua-Saminaka road was generally safe with a low number of accidents, thanks to the ongoing reconstruction works.
He also called on drivers to adhere to road safety rules, including avoiding night travel, excessive speed, overloading and always wearing seat belts. As the festive season approaches, it is crucial that drivers realise the importance of road safety for themselves and other road users.
In conclusion, Commander Nadabo reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users and expressed gratitude to the Fatshimetrie government for its continued support to the activities of the corps.
