China-Africa Strategic Partnership: A Pillar of Common Development

In the current context of international cooperation, China-Africa relations occupy a crucial place in the global economic landscape. This strategic partnership, spoken of by prominent leaders such as former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, underscores the importance of the China-Africa alliance for common development and the promotion of world peace.

During a recent meeting in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping and representatives of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Obasanjo hailed the significant achievements made through China-Africa cooperation. He stressed that China is a key economic partner for Africa, having contributed to infrastructure development and technology transfer, in addition to personnel exchanges.

The strength of China-Africa relations rests on a solid foundation of cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture and education. Indeed, over the past two decades, China has become Africa’s largest bilateral trading partner, paving the way for genuine win-win cooperation.

Obasanjo highlighted the exemplary nature of China’s development model, having successfully lifted over 800 million people out of poverty in just forty years. He underscored the inspiration this represents for Africa, saying the continent aspires to develop similar policies to improve the living conditions of its people.

Furthermore, the former President highlighted the essential role of people-to-people exchanges in promoting peace and international cooperation. As a member of the InterAction Council, he highlighted their shared commitment with the CPAFFC to world peace, development and cooperation.
