Fatshimetrie, October 8, 2024 – Fatshimetrie, a major workshop dedicated to strengthening the capacities of women leaders was recently held in the province of Sankuru, located in the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This event brought together women leaders from the region to support them in their personal and professional development.
During this workshop, several themes were discussed, highlighting the importance of female leadership in today’s society. Marie Ntambue Kalala, deputy mayor of the commune of Kabondo, stressed the need to strengthen the capacities of women to consolidate their place in society and contribute to the sustainable development of the municipality. She also highlighted the difficulties that women often face in making their voices heard, thus emphasizing the importance of supporting them in speaking out and expressing their ideas.
In addition, the speaker of the day recalled the essential characteristics of the modern woman, such as dynamism, strength, creativity, multitasking abilities, leadership in entrepreneurship and autonomy. She also highlighted the importance of communication in leadership development, emphasizing that the art of communicating well is a key element in the success of any leader, whether male or female.
The theme of this workshop, “A sure value for the development of one’s commune”, resonates as a call to action and commitment of all the women present to actively contribute to the development of their community. The presence of the mayor of the city of Lusambo, Louis Manga Lupantsha, testifies to the importance given by local authorities to strengthening female leadership and the empowerment of women in society.
Indeed, the development of female leadership has been a priority for several decades for the Congolese State, which strives to promote the education of girls and encourage the participation of women at all levels of public life. Laws have been strengthened in this regard, with the support of international partners, to ensure better representation of women in decision-making bodies and to promote their inclusion in development processes.
In conclusion, the capacity-building workshop based on female leadership organized in Fatshimetrie was a privileged opportunity for women leaders in the region to strengthen their skills, share their experiences and commit together to a more equal and inclusive future. This type of initiative is essential to promote gender equality, encourage female leadership and contribute to building a more just and balanced society for all.
