Historic consecration: Awujale becomes Amir ul Mulukil Muslimin

At the exceptional ceremony, he was bestowed with the prestigious title of ‘Amir ul Mulukil Muslimin Fi Bilad’, which translates to the Commander of the Muslim Kings in Yoruba, Edo and Delta States.

The official recognition took place at the Awujale’s palace compound in Ijebu-Ode and was organized by the League of Imams and Alfas of Yoruba, Edo and Delta States. At the milestone event, the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, emphasized the importance of the Awujale’s role in promoting unity, peace and religious tolerance across the country.

Governor Abiodun commended the experience and courageous leadership of Awujale, calling him a model of compassion, wisdom and integrity. He noted that Awujale embodies essential values ​​such as compassion, wisdom and integrity, making him an exemplary leader and worthy of the title of Amir.

The event also saw the announcement of the reconstruction of the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode road, a vital project for the region. Governor Abiodun confirmed that President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the initiative, underscoring the government’s commitment to work towards religious tolerance and harmonious development of the country.

On his part, Professor Emeritus and Grand Imam of Gbagura, Abeokuta, Kamaldeen Balogun, encouraged Awujale to continue promoting the development of Islam and the well-being of Muslims across the country. He stressed the importance of ensuring religiously respectful practices during the consecration and burial ceremonies of traditional rulers.

In a show of homage and appreciation to the Awujale, it was suggested that he consider establishing a Muslim university or setting up a world-class library, to perpetuate his legacy and contribute to education and knowledge.

The event was attended by many distinguished personalities, such as the Asiwaju of Ijebuland, Alahji Adebola Adegunwa, former Deputy Governors of the State, the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and Olu of Ilaro, among many other dignitaries.
