President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi recently paid an official visit to Hungary to meet with Prime Minister Viktor Orban, marking the beginning of a new era of cooperation between the two nations. This historic meeting highlighted the importance of establishing a win-win partnership in key areas such as the economy, agriculture, infrastructure and education.

During a joint press briefing, President Tshisekedi expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received and stressed the importance of strengthening ties between the DRC and Hungary. He also addressed the issue of the aggression that the DRC has suffered from Rwanda and called for a fair and beneficial partnership for both countries.

For his part, Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced the imminent opening of the Hungarian embassy in the DRC, thus demonstrating Hungary’s commitment to strengthening its relations with the country. He also highlighted Hungary’s interest in investing in key sectors such as the manufacturing of electric batteries, agriculture, water resources and education by offering scholarships to Congolese students.

During this meeting, it was revealed that Hungary had invested $600 million through its companies in the construction of the corridor linking Zambia to the DRC, thus highlighting the country’s commitment to contribute to the economic and infrastructure development of the region. This promising collaboration opens new perspectives for fruitful and beneficial partnerships for both countries.

In addition, the discussions also focused on the need to strengthen bilateral relations between the DRC and Hungary, in order to promote mutual exchange and harmonious development. The leaders of the two countries expressed their common will to work hand in hand to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
