Growing Frustration in Osogbo: Citizens Express Their Discontent

Recent events in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, have demonstrated the growing frustration among citizens over the current economic challenges facing the country. Protesters have taken to the streets of the city to voice their discontent and demand concrete action.

At the heart of the demands is a strong call on President Bola Tinubu to reverse the decision to remove fuel subsidies. The move, aimed at containing soaring prices, especially of food, has sparked outrage among the population.

The protesters have been rallying at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, located at Old Garage, before storming the city’s main thoroughfares. Their route took them through Oke-Fia, Dada Estate, Dele Yes Sir, through Oba Adesoji Aderemi Way to Ogo-Oluwa area, finally converging at the Olaiya flyover junction.

As they marched, participants sang various songs of solidarity to hammer home their demands, while the security forces provided escort to prevent any spillover.

This citizen mobilization is a testament to the urgency of the prevailing economic situation, compelling citizens to take to the streets to express their dismay and demand concrete measures to ease the burden on their shoulders. In these trying times, the unity and determination of the people are more essential than ever to chart a path towards a more just and prosperous future for all.
