Constructive Dialogue: Towards a Youth Involved in Building Nigeria’s Future

Fatshimetrie recently had the opportunity to speak with the Deputy Supreme Leader of the group, Jude Idimogu, to discuss the recent presidential announcements on youths. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Idimogu expressed appreciation to the President for his commitment to the youths of the country.

In his national address marking the 64th Independence Anniversary, the President announced a 30-day conference aimed at addressing the multiple challenges and opportunities facing the youths. The conference, according to the President, will help initiate constructive dialogue and empower the youths to actively participate in nation building and make their voices heard in the formulation of policies that impact their lives.

Idimogu commended the initiative, stressing the importance of giving voice to the youths to voice their concerns and propose solutions for a better Nigeria. He stressed that this platform for the youth would allow for direct interaction with the government, thereby fostering better mutual understanding and constructive dialogue.

However, Idimogu cautioned against any drift in the conference, stressing that it should not become a mere cash-handing event, at the risk of losing its substance and initial objective. The former MP also noted that the President’s speech had succeeded in inspiring Nigerians, strengthening their confidence in the future of the country and its government.

Ultimately, this presidential initiative to highlight the youth and involve them in national policymaking is generating new hope and positive momentum for the future of Nigeria. It provides an opportunity for the youth to make their voices heard, contribute to building a better country and strengthen the vital youth-government nexus.
