An Inclusive and Prosperous Future for Nigeria: Governor Peter Mbah’s Call

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State recently called on Nigerians to embrace unity and pursue inclusive national economic development for the common good of the nation. Against the backdrop of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebrations, the governor stressed the critical importance of harmony and inclusiveness in ensuring the country’s economic and social progress.

Speaking at a special church service held at the Government House Chapel in Enugu, Governor Mbah hailed the country’s anniversary as a milestone symbolizing the resilient spirit of the Nigerian people. He emphasized the critical role of government in preserving democracy and advocated for an environment where everyone feels included and part of national development.

According to the governor, unity and inclusive economic development will be the pillars on which Nigeria will build its future. He also called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other state leaders in realizing the country’s economic aspirations. His optimism about the progress Nigeria is making, though “not fast enough”, was expressed, while stressing the need for an urgent review to address national challenges and foster a major shift towards development.

During the ceremony, the Diocesan Secretary and Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Rev. Fr Wilfred Agubuchie, urged political and private sector leaders to work for the common good. He commended Governor Mbah’s innovative leadership in Enugu State, highlighting the fiscal reforms put in place to ensure that the government fulfills its obligations to the people.

The achievements of the Mbah administration, such as the speedy completion of the International Conference Centre and renovation of the State House, construction of roads, provision of potable water, equipping of Smart Green Schools and investments in security and infrastructure were hailed as actions towards the general well-being of the people.

Ultimately, Governor Mbah’s call for unity, inclusiveness and economic progress resonates as an imperative for building a better and more prosperous Nigeria for all its citizens. Hard work, determination and visionary leadership must guide the country on the path to flourishing and realizing its full potential. It is up to all of us to support these efforts for a brighter and more inclusive future for our nation.
