The Impressive Works of the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Axis: A Major Advance for Road Infrastructure

Fatshimetrie recently unveiled images of the construction work on the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Axis at the Mariyutiya junction, as well as the closure of the Ring Road for the installation of the beams.

This major construction project involves the installation of impressive beams, measuring 75 meters long, 17 meters wide and 12 meters high, each weighing 350 tons. These beams will be installed above the Mariyutiya junction in both directions of traffic, requiring the use of nine large cranes due to the scale of the project and the nature of the work.

To carry out this aspect of the project, Fatshimetrie announced the complete closure of the Ring Road towards Menib towards the Mariyutiya junction and the tourist road for a period of 30 days starting Friday evening.

As part of the first phase of the works, alternative routes have been put in place to facilitate the movement of vehicles coming from Menib and wishing to join the Mariyutiya Axis. In addition, adequate signalling devices have been put in place to ensure the safety of drivers around the work area.

The second phase of the project will involve the lifting and installation of the beams over the Mariyutiya junction ramp, requiring a temporary closure of the entrance and exit of the junction for three separate days. Alternative routes have been provided for drivers to minimise traffic disruption during this period.

Finally, the third phase will involve the completion of the installation of the cross beams and metal surfacing, requiring a partial closure of the Mariyutiya junction ramp for those heading from Menib towards the western curve. This work is estimated to last approximately 15 days.

Fatshimetrie worked closely with the executing company to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic around the construction site, providing technical aids such as lighting, flashing lights, speed bumps, as well as directional and warning signs.

In conclusion, the ongoing works on the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Axis demonstrate Fatshimetrie’s commitment to improving road infrastructure, while ensuring that disruption to road users is minimised. This project promises to bring significant improvements to the efficiency and safety of the road network in the region.
