The scandal revealed by the viral audio of VeryDarkMan has rocked social media and exposed the dark underbelly of a case involving Bobrisky and EFCC officers. Allegations that EFCC officers received N15 million to silence money laundering charges against him have rocked the public.
In the recording, Bobrisky admits to paying the sum to the EFCC to settle his money laundering case, and recounts how he was taken to a private apartment instead of being incarcerated for his financial crime.
He also accuses a top lawyer and his son of helping to get the charges dropped and avoid jail. Rumours then point the finger at Falz and his father, Femi Falana, both of whom are active in the country’s legal circles.
In the face of the media coverage of the case, the EFCC’s head of communication announced that an investigation would be conducted to shed light on these disturbing allegations.
This revelation propelled Falz to the center of debates on social networks, causing a chain reaction among Nigerians.
On X, an Internet user defended the rapper: “Falz simply connected his father with Bobrisky for his defense… how is that a crime? Doesn’t Bobrisky deserve a legal defense? Everyone is painting him as if he had embezzled public funds.”
Another user pointed out: “Falz and his father only provided legal services to Bobrisky according to the recording I listened to. There are pardon applications that require the intervention of a lawyer, unless it was done illegally. I don’t see what they did wrong. They didn’t help for free, he paid for it.”
A third expressed shock: “It’s Falz’s involvement that really surprises me, to be honest.”
It will be recalled that Bobrisky was arrested by the EFCC in April 2024 for currency mutilation, after he spread and threw bundles of new notes at the launch of the movie Beasts of Two Worlds on March 24, 2024. After pleading guilty, he was sentenced to four months in prison and claims to have served his full sentence.
