The transformation of Bunia airport: an ambitious project for a city of the future

Bunia, an emblematic city in the Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is on its way to becoming a benchmark in airport infrastructure. Indeed, the modernization of its airport is underway, with the aim of making it operational within a year.

This major initiative, led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Airway Authority, Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba, aims to transform Bunia into a must-see city, both nationally and internationally. The transformation of the runway, with its lengthening and widening, as well as the construction of a new passenger terminal and an ultramodern control tower, demonstrate the ambition to make this airport a major air hub.

Indeed, this modernization work, carried out by the Mont Gabaon company, represents a significant investment aimed at providing infrastructure worthy of international standards. The extension of the runway, the expansion of the parking area, the construction of the terminal and the control tower meet a growing demand for air transport in the Ituri region.

This modernization of Bunia airport, which is in line with the promises of the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, opens new perspectives for the economic and tourist development of the region. Indeed, the possibility of accommodating large tonnage aircraft positions Bunia as a key player in air transport in the DRC, thus promoting trade and tourism.

In conclusion, the modernization of Bunia airport promises to propel the city to the rank of must-see destinations in the DRC, thus offering new opportunities for its development and influence on the international scene.
