In a concerted effort to improve access to electricity in Sub-Saharan Africa, the World Bank, in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB), has launched the ambitious “Mission 300” initiative. This visionary project aims to connect 300 million people to electricity by 2023, representing a substantial investment of $90 billion.

This synergy of efforts aims to supplement available resources and accelerate the achievement of the “Mission 300” project.
During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the topic of access to electricity in sub-Saharan Africa is expected to spark intense debate and discussion. Approximately 600 million people in the region currently do not have access to electricity, forcing them to use polluting and inefficient energy sources to meet their energy needs.
For these populations, electricity is not only a comfort, but a necessity to ensure sustainable development and an improvement in their living conditions. By tackling this issue proactively, “Mission 300” paves the way for a brighter and more eco-responsible future for millions of Africans.
