Motorcycle driver training: a must for road safety

Fatshimetrie, September 20, 2024 – The importance of training motorcycle drivers on the highway code has been highlighted by the motorcycle taxi union in Mbujimayi, Kasai Oriental, Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative aims to reduce road accidents and harmonize driving on modernized roads.

José Lufuluabo Lumu, national president of the motorcycle taxi union in Mbujimayi, stressed the need for collaboration between provincial authorities, transport and communication services, INPP and CNPR to set up an effective driver training program. The aim is to issue training certificates and ensure that motorcycle drivers are well prepared to navigate current roads.

In addition to training, José Lufuluabo advocated for a reduction in taxes in the motorcycle taxi sector to ease the financial burden on drivers. He stressed the importance of reviewing provincial taxes so that they do not weigh excessively on drivers, stressing that taxes should be discussed and adjusted according to the reality on the ground.

The provincial director of the National Road Safety Commission (CNPR) also stressed the essential role of driver training in reducing road accidents. Training drivers on the proper use of the road can help create a culture of road safety and reduce the risk of accidents.

In conclusion, training motorcycle drivers on the highway code is a crucial issue for road safety and accident reduction. By collaborating with the relevant authorities and organizations, it is possible to put in place effective programs that will enable motorcycle drivers to acquire the skills needed to safely ride on modern roads.
