In a recent deployment of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) troops in the Lake Chad region, a series of successful operations were conducted to counter terrorism and dismantle the logistical support networks of violent extremists. One of the highlights of these recent actions is the release of Mrs. Gambo Geneviève, Head of the Physical Education Department in the Logone and Chari Department of Cameroon, as well as five other people held captive.
This rescue mission was launched after an alert was received from the inhabitants of the villages of Gangawa and Kangaleri in the Mora Division, and the rapid intervention of the troops deployed in Mora made it possible to force the terrorists to flee, abandoning their hostages. The released victims are currently undergoing medical examination to assess their health status.
In another successful operation, MNJTF troops deployed in Monguno Sector 3 intercepted a major Boko Haram logistics supplier, Babagana Zaninu, in Gubio town. Zaninu was arrested in possession of a Toyota pick-up loaded with various food items, illicit drugs and other supplies for Boko Haram fighters, including beverages, sugar, flour and other food items.
During interrogation, Zaninu admitted that the seized items were purchased from Gubio market and were to be delivered to Gazabure village in Gubio for the terrorists.
These operational successes demonstrate the MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to neutralizing terrorist threats in the Lake Chad region and disrupting critical supply lines that support the activities of the extremists.
Action against terrorist groups’ logistics providers is crucial to weaken their operational capacity and limit their influence on local populations. By depriving extremists of their essential supplies, security forces contribute to weakening their resilience and strengthening the security of vulnerable communities.
The MNJTF’s continued commitment to tracking and neutralizing terrorist groups’ logistics support networks in the Lake Chad region is essential to ensuring stability and security in this area affected by terrorist activities. These operations are an important step in the fight against terrorism and demonstrate the security forces’ determination to protect populations and eliminate the terrorist threat in the region.
In conclusion, the recent MNJTF operations demonstrate once again the determination and effectiveness of security forces engaged in the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad regionBy working in concert with local communities and taking decisive action against the logistical support networks of extremist groups, security forces are helping to strengthen stability and promote peace in this strategic region of Africa.
