Fatshimetrie: A New Chapter for Congolese Education
The Democratic Republic of Congo is entering a new era for its education system. Education sector stakeholders met in Kinshasa to begin work on developing a new strategic plan for the post-2025 period. The Joint Review of the Education and Training Sector Strategy 2016-2025 is intended to be the starting point for a deep reflection on the challenges and opportunities that await Congolese education.
Led by the Ministry of Education, the will is clear: to develop the education system through ambitious reforms. Valère Munsya, coordinator of the Permanent Secretariat for Support and Coordination of the Education Sector (SPACE), emphasizes the importance of the changes to come. It is time to rethink education in the DRC, to make it more equitable, more inclusive and of better quality.
The French Embassy in the DRC shares this enthusiasm and sees this joint review as a unique opportunity to prepare the future of Congolese youth. Recognizing the progress already made, it is committed to supporting the country in this process and supporting efforts to achieve quality education for all.
The Minister of Vocational Training, Marc Ekila, calls for consistency between national actions and the objectives of the 2024-2029 five-year plan. It is essential that all initiatives converge towards a common vision of education in the DRC.
This joint review is part of a series of annual meetings and marks a crucial step in the evolution of the Congolese education system. Stakeholders in the education sector, civil society experts and technical and financial partners are mobilizing to identify challenges, assess progress and define innovative strategies that will enable education in the DRC to reach new heights.
Fatshimetrie thus opens a new chapter for Congolese education. This is the start of an exciting adventure, where everyone has a role to play in offering the country’s youth the keys to success and the future.
