*Devastating Accident Near Samunaka In Lere, Kaduna: Over 35 Lose Their Lives On Their Way To Celebrate Maulud*
A tragic road accident has struck near Samunaka in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, claiming the lives of over 35 Muslims who were on their way to celebrate Maulud.
The victims were on board a J5 bus which collided head-on with an articulated vehicle, causing a devastating scene on the road.
Mr Abdullahi, one of the organisers of the Maulud celebration, shared in an interview the extent of the damage and the tragedy that disrupted their plans. He said: “We had about 70 people including women and children in our group. I personally counted the victims. It was a heartbreaking scene.”
The injured, numbering over 35, were quickly evacuated to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) in neighbouring Plateau State for urgent medical attention.
In addition, another vehicle in their convoy was involved in another accident with a motorcycle, resulting in further deaths and injuries.
The authorities were yet to make an official statement on the incident at the time of writing.
The tragedy has cast a shadow over the Maulud celebrations in Kaduna State, plunging the community into mourning and dismay.
