**Fatshimetrie: Towards strengthened regulation and quality in the medical sector in the DRC**

The recent holding of the 2nd edition of the Fatshimetrie Consultation Days, bringing together the National Council of the Order of Physicians (CNOM) and the College of Deans of Faculties of Medicine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), highlighted the crucial importance of ensuring quality and regulation in the medical sector.

At the heart of the discussions, a series of recommendations aimed at cleaning up the medical profession. Among these, the establishment of a formal structure for the College of Deans of Faculties of Medicine was strongly recommended. This measure, essential for supervising and coordinating the activities of the different faculties, aims to strengthen the governance and quality of medical education in the DRC.

The halt to the creation of new medical faculties, the application of new accreditation criteria for medical universities and the reform of the LMD system were also discussed during these consultation days. These measures, if implemented effectively, should ensure the training of competent and quality doctors, meeting the needs of the Congolese population.

Dr. Christian Kakisingi, deputy rapporteur of the CNOM Medical Practice Commission, stressed the importance of these recommendations to guarantee the good quality of doctors authorized to practice in the DRC. He also highlighted the need to analyze the organizational criteria of the medical sector, in order to ensure their relevance and timeliness.

The president of the CNOM, Dr. Berthier Nsadi, committed to closely monitoring the implementation of these recommendations. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the CNOM, the College of Deans of Faculties of Medicine and government authorities to ensure the implementation of the recommended measures.

During these consultation days, the presence of the authorities, including Dr. Roser Samuel Kamba, Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Security, and Thérèse Somno, Minister of Higher and University Education, demonstrates the importance given to the regulation and quality of medical training in the DRC.

In conclusion, the implementation of measures to strengthen regulation and quality in the medical sector in the DRC is a major challenge to guarantee quality care for the population. Fatshimetrie, through its recommendations and actions, is part of a process of continuous improvement that will contribute to the excellence of the medical profession in the DRC.
