The political scene in Kinshasa was the scene of essential, stimulating and resolute exchanges striking at the heart of environmental policy, between the Provincial Minister of Health and the members of the environmental commission of the Provincial Assembly of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Practitioner Gongo, Provincial Minister of Health, spoke at the end of this crucial meeting held within the environmental commission of the deliberative body of Kinshasa: “Today, I was invited to the level of the environment and land use planning commission of the Provincial Assembly of Kinshasa. The aim was to answer several questions posed by the provincial deputies on the environmental policy of my ministry.”
The rich and constructive discussions highlighted the commitment and willingness of the Provincial Minister of Health to work together with elected representatives of the population to promote effective environmental policies that are adapted to the reality of the city of Kinshasa.
For his part, Provincial Deputy Steve Mulumba, President of the Environmental Commission, said he was satisfied with the discussions and praised the determination of the Provincial Minister of Health to address environmental issues in a proactive and collaborative manner: “We have just received the Provincial Minister of Health and we, the members of the Environmental Commission, want to know how the environmental situation is in his sector. We all know that this is an issue that affects all sectors of the population.”
The strengthened collaboration between political actors and environmental management organizations seems to be the driving force behind this new chapter towards a healthier and more sustainable future for the city of Kinshasa.
