Violence in schools is a scourge that continues to arouse indignation and consternation. Recently, the territory of Nyiragongo in North Kivu and the Madame de Sévigné high school in Limete in Kinshasa were the scene of heinous acts that cost the lives of students, leaving a feeling of sadness and incomprehension in their wake.

In response to these tragedies, the Minister of State, Raïssa Malu, of the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship, expressed her deep consternation through an official press release. She stressed the importance of conducting in-depth investigations to shed light on these tragic events and to identify those responsible for these filthy acts.

It is essential to emphasize that the safety of students is an absolute priority and that no form of violence can be tolerated, whether within or outside of schools. The competent authorities must act with firmness and determination to ensure a safe school environment conducive to learning.

In presenting her condolences to the victims’ families, Minister Raïssa Malu also reaffirmed her support for the ongoing investigations and stressed the need to clearly establish responsibilities. It is imperative that justice be done and that appropriate measures be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.

These tragic events highlight the urgency of strengthening school security and raising awareness throughout society of the importance of promoting a climate of non-violence and respect within our educational communities. Schools must be places of knowledge, sharing and kindness, where each student feels safe and has the opportunity to fully develop.

In conclusion, it is essential that these events serve as a catalyst for concrete actions aimed at preventing violence in schools and ensuring the protection of children and adolescents. Solidarity and cooperation from all actors in society are essential to build a better and safer future for future generations. It is our collective duty to do everything possible to ensure that such tragedies do not happen again.
