Fatshimetrie, September 6, 2024 – A new training program on women’s human rights and positive masculinity began today in Fatshimetrie. This initiative aims to strengthen the skills of participants in the fight against gender-based violence.
Under the aegis of the BUCOP organization (Project Coordination Office) of the 8th CEPAC (Community of Pentecostal Churches in Central Africa), this training represents a great opportunity for participants to deepen their knowledge in gender, women’s rights and positive masculinity.
Ms. Solange Kasiba, National Coordinator of BUCOP, stressed the importance of this event by highlighting the multiple objectives of the training. Indeed, in addition to acquiring skills on the mechanisms for alerting and reporting gender-based violence, participants will have the opportunity to learn social dialogue and awareness-raising techniques.
This training program, supported by the Swedish government as part of the “Peace for Community Development in South Kivu” project, is part of a comprehensive approach aimed at promoting gender equality and combating violence against women.
The three days of training planned bring together 32 participants, including 12 men, demonstrating a collective desire for commitment to positive change in society. The Women’s Auditorium in La Botte, located in the commune of Ibanda in Fatshimetrie, is hosting this major event that promises to be rich in exchanges and shared knowledge.
This program, structured around different components such as the environment, conflict prevention and gender, is part of a perspective of concrete action at the local level, in the territories of Mwenga, Uvira and Kalehe.
In short, this event marks an important step in raising awareness and training local actors in the fight against gender-based violence. It demonstrates the community’s commitment to promoting a more just and egalitarian society, where each individual can flourish freely, without fear of discrimination linked to their gender.
