Fatshimetrie, September 4, 2024 – At a workshop recently held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, the issue of digitizing the drinking water and electricity sector was at the heart of the discussions. The main objective of this event was to strengthen the capacities of the agents of the General Secretariat for Water Resources, we learned from a trusted administrative source.
Moïse Mukendi Tshimanga, the Director of Archives, New Information and Communication Technologies within the Secretariat, stressed the crucial importance of digitization in a sector as vital as water and electricity. He specified that the Nextcloud project, a dedicated digital platform set up by the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity and validated in 2023, made it possible in particular to facilitate the exchange of information between the central and local levels by storing data centrally.
The workshop held on Tuesday aimed to improve collaboration and communication within the ministry, thus promoting common knowledge of the different departments and increased compliance with instructions, essential for good coordination and effectiveness of the actions carried out.
This initiative is part of the partnership between the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity and the German Technical Cooperation GIZ, as part of the project “strengthening the efficiency of drinking water services”. This collaboration aims to strengthen the skills of the General Secretariat’s agents in the water sector, with a view to continuously improving the services offered to the population.
The digitalization of public services, particularly in sectors as vital as drinking water and electricity, appears to be an essential trend to meet the growing needs of the population while strengthening the efficiency of resource management. This approach is part of a modern vision of public administration, promoting innovation and optimization of processes.
