Political crisis in the DRC: APC warns of an attempt to eliminate President Kabund

The political party Alliance for Change (APC) recently issued a troubling warning about a possible attempt to physically eliminate its president, Jean-Marc Kabund. This statement, made by spokesperson Guy-Roger Nkoy at a conference in Kinshasa, highlights a rather dark and complex situation, described as a heinous crime by the opposition party.

Faced with these worrying circumstances, the APC warns the Félix Tshisekedi regime against any attempt to harm the physical integrity of Jean-Marc Kabund, currently unjustly incarcerated for more than two years in Makala central prison. It is crucial to emphasize that the APC considers its president to be a victim of injustice and calls for his immediate release and respect for his fundamental rights.

Among the points raised by the party is the questioning of the Congolese government’s record of 129 human losses. The APC also deplores the government’s silence regarding the rape cases that occurred during the recent protests. This statement comes shortly after the incidents at Makala Central Prison, which the opposition described as “carnage” following an escape attempt.

In this tense context, leading political figures such as Moïse Katumbi, Martin Fayulu, Denis Mukwege, Matata Ponyo and Claudel André Lubaya denounce the government’s indifference to the inhumane conditions in prisons and demand that justice be done.

This situation raises crucial questions about security, justice and human rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is essential that the authorities take concrete measures to ensure the protection of citizens’ rights, guarantee fairness and fight against impunity. This case highlights the urgent need for a deep reform of the prison and judicial system, as well as better governance to prevent such violations in the future.
