Motor Vehicle Crash Involving Mack Truck And Three Others – Image Of Damage On The Road
The stretch of highway that connects Ibadan still bore the fresh scars of a tragic accident that rocked the community. The debris scattered on the roadway was a testament to the violent impact that occurred. The fates of several people were changed in a split second, leaving behind a landscape of desolation and sadness.
The spokesperson of the FRSC Oyo Sector, Mayowa Odewo, told the News Agency of Nigeria that 35 people were involved in the devastating accident. Among them were 14 adult males, 10 adult females, six girls and five boys. Sadly, only two people were lucky enough to escape unhurt from the tragedy. The rest suffered injuries of varying severity.
The accident, involving four vehicles, was attributed to a brake failure on a Mack truck, registration AKM 548 ZY. Other vehicles involved included a Nissan commercial bus, MUB 20 LG, a Nissan Micra taxi, BDJ 520 YC, and a private Honda Accord SUV, KRD 707 ER.
The injured were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for necessary medical attention, while the bodies of the victims were handed over to the police for identification and next of kin notification procedures. A sad observation made by Mr. Odewo was that none of the occupants of the crashed vehicles were protected by seat belts or any other safety device.
The scene of the accident leaves an indelible mark on the minds of people, reminding them of the fragility of life and the importance of caution on the roads.
