Scourge of Confraternity Violence: The Eye-Opening Tragedy in Ogun State, Nigeria

In Nigeria’s Ogun State, the scourge of sectarian violence has become a growing threat to the safety of residents. A recent tragedy late on Sunday night has once again highlighted the ravages of these clashes between rival factions.

The incident occurred around 11:40pm when an individual named Mosquito was violently attacked. The brutality of the attack resulted in serious injuries, including multiple cuts and gunshot wounds. The Aye sectarian even had his left hand severed during the confrontation, reflecting the extreme violence of the attack.

Local residents who witnessed the attack alerted the Ogun State Police, who quickly responded to the scene under the leadership of the Division Commander and a patrol team. The discovery of the victim’s body marked the beginning of a thorough investigation to shed light on the tragedy.

Mosquito, as he was known, was known for his affiliation with the Aye confraternity, which has been involved in the ongoing conflicts between rival factions in the area. These clashes have already claimed the lives of other members of the community, such as Point of Sale Fatai Kehinde, also known as Faithy, who was recently killed under the Kuto Bridge.

In the face of this wave of violence and criminality, the police authorities in Ogun State have intensified their efforts to put an end to the activities of the confraternities and associated crimes. The crackdown has been tightened in order to restore order and security in the area, putting an end to these bloody feuds that have bedevilled the community.

It is more crucial than ever that preventive and repressive measures are put in place to ensure the protection of citizens and the maintenance of social peace. Ogun State must join forces to combat this senseless violence and provide a safer future for its people who deserve to live without fear of reprisals or deadly conflict.
