Camp Luka in Kinshasa: An Urgent Call to Action for Hygiene and Sanitation

Camp Luka, a village in the Ngaliema commune of Kinshasa, is currently facing a serious hygiene problem. The inhabitants of this city, which has more than eight million inhabitants, face major challenges in terms of waste management and sanitation.

During a recent awareness day, the head of the Kinkenda district, André Mfutila Landu, launched an urgent appeal to the population to use latrines that comply with hygiene regulations. Indeed, the majority of Camp Luka residents use non-compliant sanitation facilities, which represents a major risk to public health.

The lack of access to clean and hygienic latrines increases the risk of spreading waterborne diseases and infections linked to dirty hands, particularly among children aged zero to seven. It is essential that Camp Luka residents become aware of the importance of hygiene and adopt adequate sanitation practices to prevent diseases and protect their health.

The overcrowding in this village makes the need for effective sanitation and hygiene measures all the more crucial. By raising awareness of the importance of using clean and sanitary latrines, local authorities hope to reduce the risk of disease and improve the living conditions of the residents of Camp Luka.

It is imperative that concrete actions are taken to improve sanitation in this village and ensure a healthy and safe environment for its residents. Hygiene awareness and good sanitation practices are essential elements in maintaining the health and well-being of the Camp Luka community.
