The Congo is Not for Sale Consortium (CNPAV) recently revealed alarming information regarding corruption cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to a report published by the CNPAV entitled “Kanyaka Rushwa”, more than ten cases of corruption were observed between January and June, involving an amount of approximately one billion dollars of embezzled public funds. These figures provide a striking overview of the scale of the corruption problem in the country.
One of the members of the CNPAV Steering Committee, Jimmy Kande, stressed the need to initiate investigations to identify and punish those guilty of these acts of corruption. He also stressed the importance of raising awareness and mobilizing civil society actors to actively fight against this scourge that hinders the economic and social development of the DRC.
The fight against corruption requires not only firm action by the judicial authorities, but also massive citizen involvement. It is imperative that everyone becomes aware of the harmful impact of corruption on society as a whole and acts accordingly. Transparency and accountability must be at the heart of the actions undertaken to eradicate this scourge.
The CNPAV is convinced that the fight against corruption is a key element in building a better future for the Democratic Republic of Congo. By being accountable for the use of public resources, the country will be able to invest more in initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of its population and promoting sustainable development.
It is essential that the authorities, civil society and all citizens unite in this common fight against corruption. By respecting the rule of law and promoting transparency, the DRC will be able to fully realize its potential and offer its citizens a prosperous and equitable future. Reducing corruption is an essential step towards building a just and ethical society, where national resources are used for the benefit of all.
It is therefore everyone’s duty to be vigilant and committed to fighting corruption in the DRC. By joining forces, we can contribute to building a strong, honest and prosperous Congo for future generations.
