Fatshimetrie, July 14, 2024 – A voice was raised on Saturday during an interview in N’djili, a commune east of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to demand the establishment of a television channel specifically dedicated to Congolese youth, as well as the creation of a national structure aimed at promoting and supporting the country’s young people.
During this meeting, Mr. Louis Madia, President of the NGO “Spes Mercedes (Hope of Reward)”, pleaded in favor of this initiative by highlighting the numerous obstacles that young Congolese face. He pointed out that many young people have projects that they want to share and promote, but face financial difficulties that prevent them from bringing their programs to fruition. This situation also hinders the development of youth entrepreneurship in the DRC.
By proposing the creation of a television channel and a national structure dedicated to youth, Mr. Madia stressed that these initiatives could offer young people the opportunity to broadcast their projects without difficulties or excessive costs. This platform, extending across the entire Congolese territory, would be established in all regions of the country in order to effectively identify talents.
In addition, the establishment of this television channel dedicated to youth could help to improve the sometimes tarnished image of young Congolese, often associated with negative stereotypes such as banditry. Such an initiative would also allow foreign audiences to discover the talent and creativity of Congolese youth. By broadcasting documentaries, broadcasts and programs highlighting the history of the DRC, this channel would contribute to promoting the cultural and artistic wealth of the country, often neglected in favor of foreign cultures.
In conclusion, the call for the creation of a television channel and a national structure to promote Congolese youth demonstrates a desire to support and encourage the talent and entrepreneurship of the country’s young people. These initiatives could not only offer young people the opportunity to share their projects and ambitions, but also to change the negative perceptions associated with Congolese youth, by highlighting their potential and creativity.
