An ambitious and innovative program has been launched in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, aiming to train 800 girls and women in essential areas such as social entrepreneurship, livestock breeding and guiding. This initiative aims to offer participants concrete tools for their autonomy and development, while contributing to the fight against anti-values and promoting the economic development of the country.
The first phase of training, which will take place over a year, focuses on knowledge of the guiding movement, self-esteem, nutrition and menstrual hygiene. These topics are crucial to allowing participants to feel valued and well-informed about essential aspects of their daily lives.
The second phase, equally important, will focus on social entrepreneurship. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice skills related to the manufacturing and marketing of food, chemical and cosmetic products. This approach aims to encourage self-care among beneficiaries, by giving them the means to create and develop their own sources of income.
Alongside this program, 200 girls aged 6 to 11 benefit from training in science, engineering and mathematics as part of the activities of the Association of Guides in the DRC. This initiative aims to strengthen students’ knowledge in areas often under-represented among girls, in order to encourage them to pursue studies and careers in technical and scientific sectors.
By offering these free and practical training courses, the AGC is committed to supporting the development and strengthening the dignity of young Congolese girls and women. The ultimate objective is to train future female entrepreneurs and encourage women’s empowerment, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
These initiatives are being sustained by the establishment of similar programs in other regions of the country, such as Kimpese and Bandundu. By offering learning and professional development opportunities, the AGC supports participants towards a better quality of life, in alignment with the objectives of prosperity and fulfillment desired for all Congolese women.
In short, these training courses offer women and young girls a springboard towards a promising future, where their talent and potential can fully flourish. Commitment to women’s empowerment is vital to building a more equal and prosperous society in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and these initiatives represent a significant step in that direction.
The mission of the AGC and its partners is laudable, and their positive impact on the lives of many Congolese women can only be praised and encouraged.. By investing in the education, training and entrepreneurship of women, the DRC is endowing itself with considerable strength and economic potential, which will contribute to the emergence of a more just, egalitarian and inclusive society for everyone.
