In the province of Tshopo, territorial administrators are faced with a delicate situation which has considerable repercussions on their work and their well-being. Indeed, these political-administrative officials recently revealed that they have not been paid for 17 months. This disconcerting information was shared during an online meeting held on Thursday July 11.
In addition to the absence of a salary for more than a year, the administrators of the Tshopo territories also claim not to receive operating costs or the roaming premium, elements which are essential to carry out their missions. This precarious financial situation makes their work particularly difficult, or even impossible in some cases.
Faced with this impasse, these officials express deep frustration about the apparent uselessness of their work in the absence of adequate financial support. They emphasize the fact that their territorial entities are not taken into account in the Congolese budget, which threatens the viability of their daily functioning.
Verdoth Yamulamba Kadita, spokesperson for the administrators of the Tshopo territories, expressed the dismay of his colleagues by affirming: “All work deserves its fair remuneration. Unfortunately, all our efforts to resolve this situation have been in vain. We never received a response to our inquiries. The lack of logistical means makes even the task of writing a simple letter extremely complex, sometimes forcing the use of private sector services.”
This difficult reality is unfortunately shared by many territories in the province of Tshopo, highlighting a systemic problem which seriously impacts the proper functioning of local authorities. It is essential that concrete and immediate measures are taken to remedy this critical situation and guarantee the smooth running of administrative activities in the region.
While awaiting a resolution to this urgent problem, it is essential to raise awareness of the difficulties encountered by these administrators of the Tshopo territories and to support their efforts to obtain the recognition and the means necessary to exercise their functions.
