Deployment of the SADC Force in the DRC: Crucial support from France and the United States

**Fatshimetrie: The Deployment of the SADC Force in the DRC**

Since Monday July 8, France and the United States of America have come out in favor of supporting the SADC force deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, known as SAMIRDC. This position was revealed during a meeting in New York, within the UN Security Council.

France called for strengthening collaboration between the SADC regional force and MONUSCO, while condemning the pressure exerted by the M23 on the UN mission and emphasizing the need to protect the integrity of the DRC. It is important to note that the arms embargo only targets armed groups and not the Congolese armed forces.

For its part, the United States of America welcomed the Congolese government’s support for SAMIRDC and encouraged respect for the two-week humanitarian truce proposed to facilitate humanitarian access to populations in distress. They also stressed the importance of MONUSCO’s intervention in the fight against repeated attacks by CODECO in Ituri, and pleaded for the maintenance of MONUSCO in North Kivu and Ituri, as long as challenges security remains.

Meanwhile, SAMIRDC continues its deployment and is expected to reach full operational capability by mid-July. This regional force plays a crucial role in restoring peace and security in the DRC, and its support by international actors such as France and the United States is essential to ensure the success of its missions.

It is therefore imperative that the international community continues to support the efforts of SAMIRDC and MONUSCO in stabilizing the DRC. The security situation in the country remains precarious, and it is crucial that the various actors, both national and international, work together to ensure the security and well-being of the Congolese populations.

In conclusion, cooperation between France, the United States of America, SADC and MONUSCO is essential to confront the security challenges in the DRC and contribute to building a more peaceful and prosperous future for this country and its population.
