Fatshimetrie, July 08, 2024 – A meeting of capital importance is planned for Wednesday, July 10 at the National Museum of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Indeed, the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage will meet with the National Association of Popular Theater and Cinema (ANTPC) to discuss various crucial topics for the country’s cultural sector.
Ndungi Mambimbi, President of ANTPC, shared his enthusiasm for this upcoming meeting. He stressed the importance of presenting the association’s expectations to the Minister, particularly with regard to the government’s involvement in voting on a law on the status of artists and professionals in culture and the arts.
Among the points to be discussed at the meeting, the reform of the management method of the Censorship Commission and the issue of sponsorship of works of art will figure prominently. ANTPC also wishes to demonstrate to the Minister its effectiveness and seriousness in the Congolese cultural sphere, highlighting its longevity and stability since its creation in 2001.
The meeting will also be an opportunity to highlight the hard work of ANTPC members, some of whom have even been rewarded with honorary diplomas for their commitment to the association. Despite the absence of state subsidies, ANTPC has been able to establish itself not only in the DRC, but also in several countries around the world.
Finally, the President of ANTPC is counting on the Minister’s support to bring the association’s demands to the higher authorities of the Republic. The law on the status of the artist, tabled in the National Assembly in November 2023, is eagerly awaited by professionals in culture and the arts and its vote is essential for the development of the sector.
This meeting between the Minister of Culture and the ANTPC promises to be a key moment for the future of culture in the Democratic Republic of Congo, opening the way to new perspectives and opportunities for players in the artistic world.
