Mike Mukebayi: The discordant voice that resonates from his cell

**Mike Mukebayi: A voice in detention**

From his cell at Makala central prison, Mike Mukebayi continues to be a discordant voice in the Congolese political landscape. While the secretary general of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (Udps), Augustin Kabuya, recently recalled the circumstances of Mukebayi’s arrest, the latter responded vigorously and addressed important questions about Kabuya’s actions and his party.

Kabuya’s statement that Mukebayi set the entire Congolese community against a tribe raises questions for Mukebayi. He questions Kabuya’s ability to promote the UDPS on a global scale, highlighting the latter’s lack of visibility on major international media platforms. Mukebayi also highlights the absence of concrete solutions proposed by Kabuya and his party to resolve the daily problems of the Congolese, such as access to drinking water, electricity and chaotic traffic in Kinshasa.

In counterattack, Mukebayi recalls Kabuya’s controversial statements, notably his public threat to provide weapons to members of the UDPS, without this triggering real legal action against him. This situation contrasts sharply with that of Mukebayi, who has been in detention for more than a year without trial, following accusations of ethnic division.

The conflict between Mike Mukebayi and Augustin Kabuya highlights political tensions and rivalries within the Udps. It also raises questions about justice and fairness in the treatment of political figures in the Democratic Republic of Congo. While Mukebayi remains deprived of his freedom, his voice resonates beyond the walls of his cell, posing essential challenges and questions for the future of Congolese politics.
