The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has become increasingly critical in recent times. Humanitarian aid, although necessary to support the Palestinian population, finds itself confronted with various obstacles, in particular the obstacles put in place by Israel hindering its distribution.

In a phone call with Sigrid Kach, United Nations coordinator of humanitarian affairs and reconstruction in Gaza, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry sharply criticized the theft by Israeli soldiers of humanitarian aid intended for in Rafah. He deplored Israel’s lack of commitment to ensuring the protection of this aid and its distribution to those in need.

This dialogue between Sameh Shoukry and Sigrid Kach aimed to establish an inventory of the situation in Gaza, highlighting the obstacles posed by Israel to the delivery of humanitarian aid, increased by the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the region.

The Egyptian minister wishes to benefit from Sigrid Kach’s assessment of ways to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis affecting Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip. They also discussed the UN official’s discussions with Israeli authorities aimed at easing restrictions on the passage of trucks through checkpoints.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that Sameh Shoukry and Sigrid Kach discussed the importance of facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as the current situation at the Rafah crossing point following the destruction by Israel on the Palestinian side of this checkpoint.

In conclusion, it is imperative that the international community intensify its efforts to ensure the effective distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza without hindrance, in order to meet the urgent needs of the civilian population in a region already affected by conflict and distress.
