Senator Cédric Ngindu Biduaya recently raised a crucial issue regarding religious equity within the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In his communication addressed to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, he advocated for the creation of a Muslim chaplaincy within the army, in order to guarantee a balanced representation of the different religious denominations.
His request is based on the observation of the considerable weight that the different religious denominations exert within Congolese society, and on the need to reflect this diversity within national institutions, including the armed forces. By proposing the creation of a Muslim military chaplaincy alongside the already existing chaplaincies (Catholic, Protestant and Kimbanguist), the senator aims to ensure adequate moral and spiritual support for Muslim soldiers.
Indeed, in a country where the armed forces are composed of individuals of various religious beliefs, it is essential to guarantee everyone the right to practice their religion and to benefit from the necessary support to fulfill their military duties.
