**The Ring Roads of Kinshasa: A Major Project for the Development of the City**
In a complex urban landscape like that of Kinshasa, the question of mobility is essential. The traffic jams that congest the arteries of the Congolese capital have become a real headache for residents. However, a glimmer of hope is on the horizon with the official launch of work on the southwest and southeast ring roads by President Félix Tshisekedi.
This project, financed by the Sino-Congolese Mines Company, represents a major turning point for the urbanization of Kinshasa. Indeed, the construction of a 320 km network of peripheral roads will provide relief to residents by facilitating traffic through the city. With 24 interchanges and 3 bridges planned in the program, these new infrastructures should help to streamline traffic and improve the quality of life of Kinshasa residents.
During the launching ceremony, the Governor of the city, Daniel Bumba, welcomed this initiative which he described as “important and impactful”. He rightly emphasizes that Kinshasa, in full expansion, must face major challenges in terms of mobility, and that these new ring roads represent a concrete response to these issues.
For his part, the director general of the Congolese Agency for Major Works, Nico Nzau, highlighted the importance of collaboration between all stakeholders to guarantee the quality of the works carried out. A concerted strategy between the Congolese government, ACGT, SICOMINES and Chinese companies will make it possible to successfully complete this major project.
The benefits of this new work will be numerous. In addition to relieving congestion on the city’s main arteries and improving the mobility of residents, the new ring roads will contribute to modernizing Kinshasa’s urban planning and promoting its economic development. The four-lane asphalt concrete road will offer new comfort to users and facilitate trade between different regions.
Through this project, Sino-Congolese cooperation asserts itself as an essential lever for the development of the country. Chinese companies, engaged in carrying out this work, demonstrate their desire to support President Tshisekedi in his vision of placing the Congolese people at the center of priorities.
In conclusion, the southwest and southeast ring roads of Kinshasa symbolize an important step towards a better future for the Congolese capital. By investing in quality infrastructure, the government is demonstrating its desire to modernize the city and improve the daily lives of its residents. This ambitious project opens new perspectives for Kinshasa and confirms its status as a rapidly changing metropolis.
